How Long Does Viagra Stay in Your System?

Viagra (Sildenafil) typically stays in your system for about 4 to 6 hours, with its peak effects occurring within 30 to 120 minutes after taking it. While its effectiveness for achieving an erection generally lasts around 4 hours, traces of the medication can remain in your body for up to 24 hours, depending on factors such as:

  • Age (older adults may metabolize it more slowly)

  • Dosage taken (higher doses stay longer)

  • Metabolism and overall health

  • Liver and kidney function

It’s important to note that sexual stimulation is still required for Viagra to work—it doesn’t cause an automatic erection. Also, avoid taking it more than once in 24 hours to prevent side effects.

If you’re on other medications or have health concerns, consult a doctor to ensure Viagra is safe and effective for you.
